About Us

Launched in April 2021, Col’s Baking Kits started as a lockdown passion project in Colin’s kitchen. After being made redundant from the oil industry, Colin, a baker by trade, decided to perfect the recipe for how to make traditional butteries at home without the need to buy all the individual ingredients. Each kit provides all the ingredients required along with step by step instructions contained in 100% compostable packaging.

As Colin says, “one of the best kept secrets in the north-east is how to make the perfect buttery, and I wanted to give aspiring bakers of all ages the opportunity to have the fun of baking them at home, without any unnecessary waste”.

After the success of the buttery kits, Colin has added more kits to the range, which now includes scones, vegan butteries, chocolate chip cookies, muffin and granola bar kits. More kits will follow on so keep an eye on our Facebook page and website.  The very popular Christmas Cake kit will return for 2024 after three very successful years.

The kits are now available from a wide range of stockists and by post within the UK - get your butteries/rowies by post. Unfortunately due to restrictions we are not permitted to send kits overseas.
